The first step is Qualitative research, with methodologies including one-on-one interviews and focus groups (on the Internet, in person, or on the telephone) to ascertain answers to questions that can then be measured in the second, Quantitative research phase.

Quantitative research will be fielded after the qualitative research results are reviewed, to ascertain specific, quantifiable and projectible data needed to determine business potential and accurately estimate costs/production quantities/etc. Of course, a full SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis will be included.
